So listened to this for the first time in a long time tonight and I forgot how much I fucking love this album and +44.

Seeing them live was my first real concert. They were opening for Fall Out Boy, so naturally I left as soon as Fall Out Boy started and ended up hanging with Mark for 10 minutes. First rock star I ever met, and I was wearing a Jimmy Eat World shirt.

Seriously why is AVA still around but these guys aren’t?

So today I realized this album turned 10 years old this week. For some reason Futures turning 10 isn’t as big of a deal, but this album is. If it weren’t for this album I would have never discovered Jimmy Eat World, The Clash or any of my other favorite bands. I pretty much owe it everything.

I re-watched this last night for the first time in a longg time and it made life that much more surreal. I remember buying this in 6th grade as a huge Blink/Green Day fan. I remember hearing Get It Faster and Goodbye Sky Harbor for the first time and deciding I should check out this band Jimmy Eat World. If you would have told me that I would get to see all of those bands live and meet 2/3 of them I would have never believed it. To think of everything that’s happened since I saw this 8 years ago is still so surreal. Watching this was a great reminder that anything is possible once you set your mind to it, and while I owe one band more than the others they’ve all had a huge impact on my life in many ways. I’m looking forward to putting this back on the shelf and digging it back out in a couple years to see just how crazy it is then.
